Allegiance, David Martin’s reputation management, crisis communications and business development consultancy, is teaming up with Brick + Mortar of Tupelo, Mississippi, to help communities retain and increase sales tax revenues. The idea, Martin told Whispers, is to devise retail strategies to aid community development, working with merchants, developers and business leaders in deciding where to site projects and how to direct growth. He says the combination with Brick + Mortar, which specializes in trade area market research, will serve “progressive communities that are committed to helping their existing businesses grow” while letting prospective companies know why an area is a good place to do business. The alliance will offer demographic data, shopper analytics, cellphone user data and community feedback to gauge a market’s reputation and appeal, Martin said. “We infuse your community’s personality into our process and make data relevant in a way that helps us tell a compelling story of your community.” Anthony Michelic, Brick + Mortar’s CEO, said the collaboration will “support existing businesses first while creating a fact-based marketing narrative” to lure retail and restaurant prospects into communities looking to grow.
